Winter Sports

Because of our new climate we are having to broaden our horizons when it comes to outdoor activities in the winter. About a mile from our house is a park that is flooded in the winter to create a frozen lake for ice skating. There is a trailer full of skates to borrow at no charge. So you can go ice skating whenever you want for free. We went last Saturday and had a really great time.

Luke and James got pulled around the rink by Mike (who now wants to learn to play hockey). Luke was supposed to "boot skate" behind that chair for balance but thought it looked easier to sit and be pulled around. They had lots of fun on the stroller/chair train.

Eliza actually wore skates and used a little walker that slides with you for balance. She only fell once and really got quite good by the time we were done. She is so excited to go again soon.

She said, "Next time I am going to try to skate really fast. I did not say I will do it, but I will try." You might want to look for her in the 2018 Winter Olympic games.

Go Eliza! I love her attitude of giving it a good try. :) How fun to be able to ice skate free anytime! I bet our kids would think they had died and gone to heaven. I'm glad you're finding things to do outside even in the cold weather.
